Surnames: Kennedy
My family is from Southwestern PA and is Scotch-Irish Presbyterian Kennedy who ended migrated to that area around 1800. I have noticed in my research throughout the years that there seems to be a plethora of dead ends in the Kennedy tree as a whole compared with my other ancestors, even the ones that were pre 1812 frontiersmen.
I have been brickwalled at my GGGGFather John T Kennedy (1812-1896) for nearly 7 years now and I conservatively estimate that I have followed no less than 200 wild goose chases in the Kennedy line that either have no recorded ancestors or descendents to speak of, or just no records other than a lonely pre 1840 US census record, will, deed, ect. with no triangulating information.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing and have some clues as to why and how to breakthrough? I'm at a loss on where to go with this line.
