Well it's about that time of the year again, when I post my request for any information anyone might have on my Adams Family that resided in York County, PA in the early 1800's. I find it hard to believe that this family and all its relatives just vanished from York when my family left there in 1836. Surely there are Adams' still in York who are researching their family's and had some that left York west to the Ohio territory in the 1800's. This is all I know of my Mathew Washington Adams.
I am looking for anyone who is or has done research on the Adams family in the county of York, PA and who may have come across a Mathew Washington Adams and his family. They left York, PA about 1836 when Mathew was about 8 years old, for a small village in Ohio called New Lisbon. I have hit a brick wall at this point. Mathew W. is my gg-grandfather who died in Lisbon, Ohio on May 21, 1906. At the time of his birth there were Adams' in Windsor and Upper Chanceford TWP's of York County. Census records reveal that both his parents were from or born in PA. I visited York, PA a few years ago to see if I could find anyting, but I went home empty handed, again. During period of his live in Ohio, there were listed in cemetery records two Adams' who were from PA, a Mathew and a Samuel, about the same age, possibly brothers. I am praying that someone else has done some Adams research and have come upon a Mathew W (Washington) Adams in their travels and would please let me know.
Any help from anyone would be so greatly appreciated.
