Looking for info on Civil War veteran Joseph Helker, who served with Company K of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. The regiment mustered in York in September 1861. Helker was born @1842/43 and also served with the 19th and 79th Pennsylvania Infantries. He married Elizabeth Beam Robers, a widow, on July 16, 1878; children: Mary Magdaline & Daniel; son of Joseph & Elizabeth Roberts Helker. He died October 1879 in Prarie View, Logan County, Arkansas, of chronic dysentery contracted while in the service.
