Looking for information on my great grandparents James Kerlin and Bridget Halligan. James immigrated from County Derry,Ireland and began farming in Pleasant Mount in 1852. They had ten children, some of whom stayed in Pleasant Mount. Bridget came from the south of Ireland and lived in Honesdale and worked in her uncle's store in Honesdale (Halligan Oyster House?). They were married in St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Honesdale.
All the children were baptized in St. Juliana's Church in Pleasant Mount. Some were buried at St. Juliana's, Rock Lake and some were buried at St. Cecelia's Churchyard cemetery at Hill Top. One of the daughters married a Charles Hilros O'Neill and another daughter married John Dunn Brennan. One of the sons married a Frances Ann McAvoy, all from the area.
We are planning a trip to Honesdale to visit the Wayne County Historical Museum and to try to find remnants of the 120 acre farm in Pleasant Mt. I do have a map. Would love to hear suggestions on how to find the Kerlin gravestones. St. Juliana's doesn't seem to exist anymore and I have been communicating with a church in Honesdale who referred me to a church in Forest City.
My tree is the Kerlin Tree by knittingnana. Thanks for the help.
