Edward Beardslee, JP of Little Meadows, was born 1/15/1836, s/o Silas and Julia A. (Barton) Beardslee, Silas was born in Middletown Center, Susqehanna county, 4/25/1810, s/o Silas and Catherine(Treadwell) Beardslee, natives of CT. Silas Beardslee Sr., was the s/o John Beardslee, a Rev. War Soldier present at the buring of Danbury, CT. by the British. He was born in 1726, he was a clothier by trade, came to Rush township at a very early day, and later moved further up the North Branch of Wyalusing creek. He was killed by faling from a load of hay, in July 1820, leaving his wife, Catherine with 3 sons and 6 daughters; (1) Eunice, born in 1790, married Joseph Beebe. (2) William born Nov. 22, 1792, married Abigail Whitaker and died in May 1852, leaving 4 children, William L., Asher M., Mary A. and Maria M. (3) Mehitabel born in 1795 married Miner Fairchild. (4) Johana born 4/12/1797 married Amasa Moulton. (5) Sarah, born Feb. 1800, married Autin Howell. (6) Loraine, born March 1802 married Philip Peet of Bradford County, PA. (7) Catherine born 8/12/1804 married Clark Whitaker. (8) Silas, born April 1810. (9) John, born in June 1812 married Adeline Darling, and Sarh E., wife of S.A. Pitcher, of Little Meadows.

Silas Beardslee married 3/5/1833 to Julia A.Barton, who was born in Dutchess County, NY., d/o Lewis and Mercy (Moe) Barton. Silas died in 1894, his wife died in 1880 leaving 2 sons Edward B. and Irvin R.

Edward B. Beardslee married in 1859 to Ada Louisa Esmond of Silver Lake township, d/o Hezkiah and Alma B. (Guerney) Esmond of Silver Lake. Edward and Ada had 2 children; Verna I. and Silas Esmond B.

Vernal I., the elder was born at Little Meadows in 1869. Silas Esmond B. was born at Little Meadows in 1872, was a student of the Montrose High School and a graduate of the Owego high school and of Colgate University, Hamilton, NY. He was the principal of the LaRaysville, Bradford County, PA., school.
