William Richart died c. 1770 in Upper Mt Bethel (a Scots-Irish community)in Northampton Co., PA. His widow Martha and eldest son Robert were appointed administrators. Robert's petition to the court to divide his father's land or appraise it so it can be sold refers to Robert's "brothers and sisters".
So far I have identified 2 brothers -- James Richart born c. 1750-1751 and William born ca 1754. Possible (not proven brother) could have been a John Richart who was of Mt. Bethel in 1772. I have no further info on this John Richart.
Robert Richart married twice. 1st wife Catherine Smith. She died in Mt. Bethel in 1786. They had 7 children. 2nd wife Elizabeth Robbins. They had 6 children. Rolbert sold his Mt. Bethel land in 1790. Between 1790--1800, Robert Richart, his second wife Elizabeth Robbins, and their children and some of his children by Catherine, moved to Greenwood, Columbia Co., PA. Robert Richart died there in 1808.
William Richart (Robert's brother) born c. 1754 left Mt. Bethel, Northampton Co, about the same time Robert did. In 1797 William bought land in Derry, Northumberland Co., PA. He was of Derry when he died in 1810. Wife was Martha - maiden name unknown to me.
James Richart (I believe to be Robert's other brother) born c. 1750 married Jane Oliphant. They had 9 children per other researchers. James was a tavern keeper and owned land adjacent to Robert which was on a major road to Easton, PA. Per the 1790 census, James will lived in Mt. Bethel with his wife and children. At some time (1790-1800?), James, his wife, and most of their grown children went to Bath Co., KY. James died there. I do not have his death date.
Anyone researching this Richart line? My husband descends from Robert Richart's son Joseph Richart who was born in 1785 (he was Catherine's son and about 1 year old when his mother died; presumedly raised by his step-mother Elizabeth Robbins). Joseph Richart went to Greenwood, Columbia Co., PA, with his father and step-mother. He married Jane Staddon there; they lived all of their lives in Columbia Co., PA.
