Does anybody know if this church still exists? I found a church directory on line from 1913 that included some of my Ancestors. I would like to contact the church to see if they have death and birth dates for some of these people. I have the years, but I need the months and days. I was hoping the church might have that info. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

I haven't been up there in a while, but there is a church on main street in Gilberton that has a glass pane with the name Tregea on it. I don't know the name of the church now but maybe that is the one you mentioned.

There were a few Tregea's in the Gilberton area. Someone told me there was also a some Tregeas up in the town above Gilberton . I don't know the exact spelling of the town (shenadoe-SP?) These Tregeas were not immediately related to some of the Tregeas in Gilberton. I think it was also mentioned that the glass pane at the Gilberton church was from them. If you go up to Frackville, there is a cemetery up there on the right side of main street going towards Gilberton. That might help you in your search.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the help.

Gilberton Methodist Church is on the corner of Main and Church Streets. It is a small but still active congregation.
A few years ago a book was published listing baptisms, weddings and deaths from the church's inception up to the early 1930's. I know that the book was available on amazon.com in 2004.

Sorry on the spelling...that should be Tregeas. The cemetery up in Frackville that I mentioned has some Tregeas
buried up there. My great grandfather who was killed in the mines is buried there as are my grandfather and grandmother. I'm guessing that Annie Morgan (great grandmother) might be buried there also. The church doors at the Gilberton Church where purchased anonymously by my dad through Eddy Morgan who was a family friend and used to live next to the Gilberton Church.
