Dear Geraldine:

I would second Andy's suggestions. I knew my parents were married in Schuylkill Co. but there was no county record of the marriage. Why? They were living in Philadelphia and got the license in Philadelphia Co. and state law requires that the person performing the marriage return the notice of marriage to the issuing county NOT THE COUNTY IN WHICH IT IS PERFORMED.

Therefore their is no record in Schuylkill Co. of a marriage that took place at EllenGowen (?).

You may want to look at the marriage column in the local newspapers around the date of the possible marriage.
