Hi Charlie
My father was a doctor who graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1925. One year ahead of him was a Dr. Burk (Sorry I don't recall his first name.) from Mahanoy City. When Dr. Burk graduated he set up practice in Mahanoy City.
I lived in Philadelphia and when I was in third grade I went to visit my grandmother who lived in Jackson's Patch a few miles outside of Mahanoy City. I fell and broke my arm, Dr. Burk set it and as I recall his office looked like a corbon copy of my fathers. When my father would visit M.C and Jacksons he would stop by and visit with Dr. Burk.
Just last year I was talking with my cousins Mary she commented that "...when Dr. Burk died most of the people in the area cried. He treated many of his patients at no charge.
Hope that this memoir will be of help.
Regards, Jack Novicki
