Jasper Edwards was one of the original settlers to Wallenpaupack in 1774. The settlers were forced away due to hostilities surrounding the Rev. War and when they did return around 1783 Jasper apparently settled on one of the lots but by the time the deeds were recorded around 1806, he had moved to the Hawley area, on the Lackawaxen River. I have read that his sons Peleg and James and daughter Sabra remained at the settlement but I have found no evidence of this. I suspect they moved with their father to the Hawley area. Sabra married Jonathan Brink. Peleg had sons Charles and Henry. Henry was a shoemaker and married Caroline Kimble, sister of my GGgrandfather, Andrew Jackson Kimble. The only Edwards buried at the old Paupack cemetery are Henry and his wife Caroline and their son Arthur.
I have not done a tree on this family so I most certainly am missing family members.
Jasper was captured by the Indians at some point. A good source of info is Mathew 's "History of Pike, Wayne and Monroe Counties'" pub. 1886.
