My ancestor Laura Virginia Paine (who was from Trenton, NJ) married a man named John Patton/Patten in Philly in Feb 1879. They had one daughter, Adeline, born in Philly in Dec 1880.

In the 1882 Trenton City directory Laura Patton is listed as a widow.

There are many men named John Patton in Philly at that time. I'm trying to find out which family my "John" comes from. The only thing I know about him is that he was born about 1856, he worked as a blacksmith before his marriage and he worked as a laborer after his marriage.
