i need a bit of a pointer.
i have 2 mason families living 2 doors away on the 1920 federal census. looking at the house on google streetview they maybe next door neighbors, 2 storey rowhouses.

john and ella(kelly) mason + 7 kids
in 1920 they lived at 2114 57th st phila.
my ancestor richard mason, wife mary and son reynolds lived at 2110, 2 doors down. i've been unable to find the connection between them.

paternal lineage:
richard mason 1804 ireland
richard e mason 1854 phila
john r mason 1878 phila
raymond mason 1905 phila

i suspect john mason is a cousin from ireland. where do i look for data? i found the connection because one of john+ella's daughters is eleanor, same name as my gmother.

can you help point out how to solve this? i've looked at 1891 and 1895 phila directories already

i've contacted parallel lineages for family stories.
i've mapped 1900-10-20-30 census addresses for everyone involved.

i've found a number of the same names, joseph, eleanor, harry and henry appearing in both families. i've been able to track john joseph to ireland but only to his folks. i've never found richard mason's home county in ireland.

i guess i need direction from an experienced researcher.
