i've been trying to work through a brickwall by carefully plotting the addresses of my swedish ggparents&associated relatives in philadelphia.
the address i'm interested in is 504-508 n 8th st, the names are harry f and sophie williams, the time frame is 1900-1920.
their marriage certificate lists 1123 brandywine st.- in 1899. in 1900 census they are at 504 n 8th. in 1910 they are at 508 and 504 is occupied by balistocky either a jewish cigar seller or a small cigar factory. by 1920 harry is gone, sophie&kids have moved away and she takes in boarders and appears to run a boarding house.
in 1902 harry buys a diner at 40 s 4th, and is apparently selling cigars at 508 n 8th in 1904 to 1913 and running the diner. in 1903, Kilstrom Chas, machinist, is living with harry & sophie at 508 N 8th. his sister is theresa (carlsdotter) johnson, when he dies in may 1913 his BIL benjamin id's the body, charles(carl) lives with them at the time at 1302 n 50th.
this is where i run out of data for harry f williams. sophie appears in phila dir at 508 n 8th st as dining 1914,5,6; in 1919-1923 she appears at 628 n 55th st.. a new name philip atlas appears as a cigar seller at 508 n 8th. harry's last appearance is in 1913 dir.
the big question is what happens to harry f? i believe charles r kilstrom is a close relation and his death unhinges harry but i have no evidence of a relation other than the 1903 directory putting charles at 504 n 8th.
i could use some help fleshing out that area in that time frame. what kind of neighborhood is this, was it immigrant? one reason for plotting is that i believe they did not drive and used trolleys. so the closer they are the better. the family doesn't disperse westward until ww2.
harry f has a cousin carl a kelstrom who lives at 2235 n carlisle st in 1920.
sophie has a half brother olof ekstrom who lives for decades at 4550 regent.
sophie has a sister hilda ekstrom kilstrom who in 1918 lives at 1926 Wallace.
my issue is where everyone was in 1913 to 1916 to try to figure out what happened to harry f williams.
