I need some help from anyone in Northumberland County. I am currently tracing my adoptive parents family tree. This is what I have to date:


Father's side:
Family name is Schwartz. Given name is Peter Matthew
His father's name was Peter Joseph Schwartz


I have gotten to a Jakob Schwartz which would be my 2nd Great-Grandfather. All I have for him is a birth year of 1814 and a DOD of: 29 Apr 1892. Locations are unknown. There is another man who would be my 3rd Great-Grandfather. All I have on him is a name of Heinrich Schwartz. No locations or DOB or DOD's.


His mother's maiden name was Rebuck
Given name was Dora
My Dad's mom's side of the family I was able to go back to an Andreas Rehbock (notice the change in spelling from Rehbock to Rebuck (a tendency Elise Island was known for)) . His information is pretty sketchy as well. Birth year is: 1690 with the location of Germany. His DOD is: Between. 1737–1782 location is also Germany.


Mother's side:
Family name is Petroskie. Given name is Anna Marie
Her father's given name was Walter Peter Petroskie
. His vitals are DOB: March 25 1888. Location of birth is: Suwalki Poland. I believe his DOD would be around the 1950's. That is it for her father and his side of the family.


Her mother's maiden name was: Chapleski
Her given name was: Florence
Her vitals are: DOB: 25 Jan 1891, location: Suwalki Poland
DOD: JUN 1964 location: Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.

The rest of my mom's family I have only been able to trace back to my Great-Grandfather: Theodore Czaplewski with a DOB and location of: JUL 1859 in Suwalki Poland. DOD and location of: 17 MAY 1904 in Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.


Being that my mother was the first generation born American, things are really sketchy on her side of the family.

Most of this information on the Schwartz line I have however, there are errors. I hope you don't mind of I correct them:

First the family spelling has always been Schwartz. To the best of my knowledge Swartz was never a variation. However, my information on this may be incorrect. The rest though I know to be fact so here goes:

Joseph Swartz is actually
Jakob Schwartz year of birth is 1814. DOD is: April 29 1892.
Francesca year of birth is 1821; year of death is: 1893

Anna "Annie" Schwartz is: Anna Ceclia Schwartz DOB is: March 13 1886 DOD is: January 15 1913

Mabel V Schwartz DOB is: August 13 1905 DOD is: November 19, 2003. She was married to Leroy Reedy Married name was never Reed.

Francis H Schwartz DOB is: November 3 1909. DOD is: January/February 1976.

Peter M. Schwartz DOB is: July 16 1911 DOD is: December 21, 1994. This Peter was never a junior all though his official records say junior. His father was Peter Joseph Schwartz.

Nancy Schwartz is actually Helen Nancy Schwartz and her married name is Ziemba. Her DOB is: November 16 1936.

Robert Schwartz is Robert Walter Schwartz. DOB is: March 1938.

Michael Schwartz is Michael Raymond Schwartz. DOB is: September 2 1948.

Thomas Schwartz is Thomas Gary Schwartz. DOB is: March 8 1952.

Me: spelling is Deborah Ann Schwartz. DOB is: September 24 1961.

Paul Schwartz I am not too sure about. He and daddy were not very close.

Theodore Schwartz is missing a child. His name is Donald and there was also a foster child Kathleen (not sure of last name)

Albert Schwartz DOB is: April 30 1918. DOD is: September 1986.

Ralph M. Schwartz DOB is: November 21 1921

Dorothy Schwartz was married to Mark Bowers. Year of birth is: 1923 Their children are:

Joanne Bowers

Brenda Bowers
Raymond Michael Bowers (my brother is Michael Raymond Schwartz..a family tradition if you will)

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Schwartz I don't have in my records.

George Schwartz is: George M Schwartz DOB is: January 18 1893. DOD is: February 4 1965.

John Schwartz is: John Francis Schwartz DOB is: June 25 1895 DOD is: April 11 1968.

The rest of your list from Thomas Schwartz down to Julius Swartz I am not aware of so I can't say one way or the other if they belong to my family tree or not.

May I ask where you obtained this information?

I am working on a Census project, I have transcribed the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 & am currently working on the 1900 census for the complete county of Northumberland, PA. That is where all my data came from, along with a book on the HEPLER line. You are absolutely correct my error I should have written Jacob NOT Joseph. Francesca was 58 years old on the 1880 census on June 8th 1880. If you are interested in my sources I could do FGS that list my sources. I have updated my file woth your corrected data, Thanks

In your transcribing have u found anything for a Walter Peter Petroskie formerly of Shamokin and later Paxinos also known as Irish Valley? They owned and/or operated a dairy farm until Florence (his wife) passed on in 1964.

It appears he was born in Suwalki Poland got married to Florence in 1910 and I THINK they immigrated to the US after their wedding. I can't find anything via Ellis Island of their arrival. He died in 1946 and the only evidence I have of his existence in the US is a 1930 census and a WWII draft registration from 1942.

What I really want is information on his family in Poland. I THINK he was the only child to immigrate here from Poland at that time. Ancestry sadly doesn't have any polish collection and they don't know when one will become available either.

I don't even have a picture of him. All I have is a pic of their tombstone. It saddens me greatly that the man who fathered my mom left so little behind here. There has to be more but I don't know how to go about getting it. Any ideas from ANYONE would be greatly appreciated.
