Owned Bob Ward's Oysters and Bob Ward's Ale on Swede St near Lafayette.

Married Elizabeth King in 1848, and they had 10 children: William, Daniel, Charles, James, Zerah, Robert, Emma, Mary, Lizzie (Bessie) and Ella.
