I'm looking for any information about a William Wray who appears on the 1880 census in Whitemarsh, Montgomery county (the surname is listed as Ray, but in all other records the family consistently spelled it Wray).
In 1880 he was 33, foreman of marble yard, married to Eliza C. Ray aged 36. Both born in Ireland. Children William J., 9, Annie, 7, and Samuel, 1. All children born in Pennsylvania.
They probably emigrated around 1870. I have a copy of a letter from William to his brother Samuel in 1873. Samuel had moved to Scotland. William offered to send a ticket so his brother could move to America (he didn't take up his offer).

From indexes on ancestry.com I can see William and Eliza were still in Montgomery County in 1900, and in 1910 William seems to be in Philadelphia.

I'm particularly interested in finding out where in Ireland William was born (I'm guessing Derry or Donegal). Would there be any American records that might contain this information? A gravestone might, of course.

I don't know whether William and Eliza married in the USA or in Ireland. They would have been Protestants.
