The info I have finds the Bond family in PA back to late 1700's. As I said,
members of the Bond family inter-married with my Singer family (from Jackson township, Monroe County.

Jesse Bond Jr. => Jesse W. Bond Sr.=> Elwood Bond=> John Bond

John was born about 1802 in PA and lived in Chestnuthill Twp
His occupations on the census were farmer and raker maker.
He had a wife listed named Eliza. Also living with the family was
Catherine Hilliard (there are various spellings) who was 10 years
younger than Eliza. On the 1870 census Eliza is not listed, and
Catherine is listed as a domestic. then on the 1880 Census, Catherine
is listed as head of household (50 years old and widowed), along with
the children (Elwood included).

Interestingly enough, Elwood shows on the 1900 census with his family right next door to Josiah Singer. Josiah "Jesse" Singer was born in 1866 and his mother was Hannah BOND , daughter of George & ELizabeth Bond.

There are some articles in the Stroudsburg Daily Record and the Pocono Record about the family - birth announcements, etc. You can find them on ancestry.com

Hope this helps a little. Regards, Sandy
