Geo. W. Rice passed away at his farm home about 6 miles East of town on the Coryville Road early Friday morning.(9 Jun 1922)
Death was caused by complications arising from an accident which resulted in a broken hip.
He was 84 years, 10 months, and 17 days. 100 years ago this month his father, Wm. Rice, then a boy of 18 years, came from Courtland Co., NY to McKean Co. Geo. W.(Washington) Rice, eldest son of Wm. & Betsy (Reed) Rice was born and spent his entire life in Keating Township.
He leaves to mourn his death a wife, five children, 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Funeral services were held at the house, Sun. P.M. Burial at Smith (Fairmount) Cemetery.
