Mary,
Glad you found what you needed. Mary would have been born before there were civil birth certificates, though I think some PA counties kept them for a time around 1852-54. This is why one must go to church records. Birth certificates statewide for PA start around 1906, it seems.

You can get birth certificates from PA for genealogy. Here's what the site says, near the bottom of the page: "Effective February 13, 2012, you may now access Pennsylvania birth and death indices to search for birth records from 1906 and death records from 1906 through 1961. The original birth and death records for these years are located at the Pennsylvania State Archives." Archives is at http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/gen...

Also, Archives Record Group 26 (RG-26, Series 26.28) has the 49 counties with birth/death/marriage records (incomplete) 1852-1854. For more, see http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/rg/sd/r26sd.htm#26.28
Perhaps the marriage is there.
