My family has given me a vague family tree for our Hostetter side. All of it checks out until up to Cephas, but their records show his father being David Hostetter 1816-1898 married to Maria Hostetter (Peifer). I, however, cannot find any record of David and Maria having a child named Cephas.

Any information on Cephas's roots is greatly appreciated!
