I just went and did some research. The Paul who married Maria Conklin is a different Paul. The one who married Maria was born in 1739. The Paul who gave birth to Joshua was born in 1753. Joshua was born in 1775. There are so many Vandervorts named Paul or Nicholas that it's hard to follow. I did find a Paul who married a Maria Conklin, as I said, but it's the wrong Paul.

According to the information I have, Joshua was the son of Paul Vandervort and Maria Conklin. I received this information from Shelby HIller shelbyscrappin@yahoo.com

I have quite a bit of information on the Vandervorts.
Hi,
Are you talking about the Joshua Van Dervoort who married Hannah Miller? He was the son of Paul V. and Dinah James.

I'm having trouble finding out more info about Joshua and Hannah. Seems like Joshua is usually left out of the list of children of Paul and Dinah. According to the Vandervort history booklet by J.J. VanDervoort, Joshua is my ggg grandfather, the father of Levi who married Theresa Crate. Their son Levi (married Margaret Murphy) was my great grandfather.

Does anyone have more info about Joshua and Hannah (Miller) Van Dervoort?

Carrier/ Raine Summerville, PA

Compiling booklet about Raine family genealogy. Tombstones reading from Carrier Cemetery: Mary Evaline Carrier 1851-1881. I believe she was the first wife of Thomas W. Raine once in lumber business with Mr Carrier in Clarion and Jefferson counties. Believe Mary was the daughter of Thom's partner. Apparently, Mary E. Carrier married Thomas W. Raine October 16, 1871.

Raine children deaths listed in Clover Twp were: Ruth C. Raine, infant died 1874 and Thomas R. Raine died 1880. Possibly these are their children. Thomas is probably the son who drowned at Crow Run in Jefferson or Elk County near a saw mill.

Burial of Anna Margaret (nee Raine)Ferguson, born September 24, 1876 died March 22, 1920 was in Fairview Cemetery in Erie County. Her parents were probably Thomas and first wife Mary E. (nee Carrier) Raine. Other Raine relative listed as burial in Fairview cemetery was John Thomas Raine born February 23, 1895 died August 12, 1970 (abt. age 75).
Was probably son of Thomas and wife nee Montgomery Raine.
Also,in same plot was name of Mary (nee Raine) Taylor, born April 10,1890 died December 19, 1969. Was probably daughter of Thomas and second wife Katherine Z. Raine.

Delayed Birth Petition filed 1945 Elk County courthouse
by Joseph William Raine, born May 11, 189 at Empire, Elk County,PA lists his father as Thomas W. Raine. born January 13, 1851 Paddy Creek, Lawrence County Ohio (died 6/22/1933 in Erie County, PA (Fariview cemetery) and mother Katherine Zahiser (nee Montgomery) Raine born May 13, 1855 in Clarion County, died November 3, 1944 Erie county, PA. Joseph in 1945 was a resident of Alderson, Greenbrier County, W VA.

Thomas W. Raine and his brother, his brother, John W. Raine, left Elk County about 1904 and moved to area of Greenbrier,WVA where their saw became the largest in the "world"..Thomas left WVA and moved to Erie county with wife. John apparently stayed in W VA where he died.

I would like to confirm that Mary Evaline nee Carrier was the first wife of Thomas W. Raine.

Also would like to find out if John W. Raine was married three times....his wife in 1897 at time of birth of Richard O. Raine was given as Edna Raine. His wife at birth of other children of John was Elma (possibly nee Groves) Children were: Margaret H. b. 10/5/1900 Empire/Rainetown and John Raine, born 3/6/1902 Empire/Raintown.

Believe error in courthouse records for marriage of Emma (nee Groves)...her marriage listed as 5/17/1887 at age 24 to John M. Paine (probably Raine), age 43, lumberman of Polk Twp. Jefferson county PA, man widowed two times.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Married Sarah, maiden name unknown.

The other six who remained in Northumberland County, were:
(1) Johannes, born 1796; married Catherine Thomas
(2)Jacob, born 1799, married Catherine Barbara Paul
(3)Catherine, born 1801; married Abraham Brosious; my direct ancestors. After Abraham died she married Peter Hileman.
(4) Elizabeth, born 1803; married Martin Paul, Jr.
(5) Samuel, born 1807; married Mary Hollenbach.
(6) Hester/Esther, born 1811; married John Greisinger (and variant spellings)

My interest is whether anyone has photos of any of the above Bush children, whether the two who moved to Jefferson, or of the other six who remained in Northumberland County, Pa. I have two photos I can share of my ancestor Catherine Bush Brosius (Hileman, after Brosius died.

I have information showing that their mother Catherine Bush died in 1848, late enough to have been photographed. Of course that would be "the ultimate" if anyone has a photo of her. Thanks in advance
Jerry Brosious
Minneapolis, Minnesota

I am trying to find the marriage record for Ida Mae Fuller to William Jack, this would have been sometime in the late 1880's. In 1900, Ida and her children are living in Pine Creek, Jefferson, PA.

Later, Ida Mae, was married to Vernice Klingensmith & that marriage took place in Armstrong County. Upon Ida's death, she was (as I was told by her granddaughters) buried in Jefferson County, where her parents lived in their later years. 1920 Census, finds Daivd living in Pinecreek, Jefferson, PA. Any information as to were the parents are buried? Ida Mae, was the daughter of David J. Fuller & his wife, Emma Catherine Siple Fuller.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Paula C. Smith

Elizabeth (Fireman) Framptons fathers head stone has the name as Fireman. In 2001 I visited several cem., one of them being Zion Cem. in Indiana County Pa., where Elizabeths Father, Mother, Stepmother and a few sibblings are buried. The head stones read Fireman. Photos taken of them were lost but I do have a photo of Benjamin and Elizabeth Framptons grave in Mt. Carmel Cem. in Clearfield Co.. My grandfather was Albert Merle Frampton and he married Alma Gertrude Miller. Clair T Frampton was my grandfathers uncle and Maude Miller was my grandmothers cousin. Through my Framptons it was said Elizabeth could not read or write but very little if any and another spelling on our side was Fairiam.

Hi, Thanks for your kind response.
The name sounds familiar. (Steele). Its likely that Samuel Lincoln ( Gr. Granddad) wasn't living in 1917. His wife's name was Cora. My Granddad, Samuel Leroy, was born in 1901 in Kansas. So the age spread seems to work. What year was Peter Motter and Sarah Steele born? Do you know anything else about this family tree?

Thanks again.
Suzie

Kay,

This is John Luker once again. My dad's sister name is Billie Luker who married Larry MCKowan. I know it isnt spelled the same, but I thought that since others in our trees have the same name, maybe this may be something to check out. WBS.
St Anthony's sacramental records, Wyo Co.

Does anyone have ANY idea as to where the sacramental records of the recently closed St Anthony's Church, Windham Twp, Wyo Co are now kept? I was advised by St Mary of Assumption, the church linked with St A's that they had no idea of where the records prior to 1889 went to.
Really, really seeking the records of the following:
baptism record of John Kinsley b ca 1861,62, 63 to ? and ?
marriage records of Michael or John Kinsley/Kingsley/Kinsella, one Michael born 1810 previously residing Pottsville, one Michael born 1833, 2 John Kinsleys born 1837 & 1839.
Leads are very much appreciated! I believe some of the relatives of the abovementioned moved to Jefferson Co abt 1885.

According to W.M. McKnight's 1917 book on Jefferson County, Peter Motter (a tailor living in Red Bank) and his wife, Sarah (Steele) Motter had a total of sixteen children. McKnight mostly just names the children that were still living in 1917, and there was no mention of a Samuel. There IS mention of twin sisters, Carrie (d. 1915) and Emiline, as well as William, Wesley, George, Sarah, and Ellen. Let me know if this sounds like a possible match.

Unfortunately, I know nothing else about this tree, but I was happy to look-up the bio! The only other relevant thing the bio states is that the the Motter-Steele couple married in Mifflin Co.

I actually have some collateral Steele relations, but no Sarah shows up on my tree. You may try posting on the Steele surname board for info on her. The Steele family was pretty big Jefferson Co. Good luck!

A photo of David William Hoch?

Does anyone know if a photo of this David exists, being that he died as late as 1923? He is a direct ancestor of mine through his daughter Margaret Sarah (Hoch) Lingenfelter, who is my Great Great Great Grandmother, and I would love to obtain a copy of any such photo. I have photos of Margaret, her sisters Minnie and Jennie and brother David William Hoch that I would be more than willing to share. If anyone is interested in swapping information about these people or has learned more about any of this specific Hoch family since these posts were originally put up, please feel free to leave a post and we'll get in contact as I would very much like that.
