I am descended from Helen Clara Hoffman, and have just begun to research the family, but I have some information from my grandmother and would be happy to share. Your message was from several years ago, of course, and is likely your research is more complete than this by now.

I have:

Jacob Hoffman was son of Johann Hoffman (son of Peter Hoffman of Alzweiler and Katharina Atz of Hoch-Wald) and Anna Maria Brill (daughter of Michael Brill of Alzweiler and Anna Scheid of Schaumburg)

and

Mary Josepha Reiter was the daughter of Conrad Reiter d 1828 (son of Conrad Reiter and Princess Cunnegunda, daughter of Charles I of Hesse-Cassel and Mary of Courtland) (the story goes that Conrad was Charles' bodyguard and when they were married the princess was banished & disowned) and Anna Margaret Jaeger b 9/25/1789 d 7/4/1887 Brookville, PA (daughter of Adam Jaeger and Mary Margaret Keller).

Now, I haven't confirmed any of this info through research thus far, just had it presented to me by my grandma in the form of a mimeograph copy. If you can add, verify, or negate anything, I'd appreciate it.
