Research at the Indiana County Hist. & Gen. Soc. shows James McDermott (1855-1903) s/o Marshall L & Mary (Salsgiver) McDermott married Martha Jane Cunningham (1856-1947)d/o John & Agnes E (Adams) Cunningham prior 1880.

1880 census shows Martha enumerated in her parents home under the name Martha McDermot. I cannot find James in this census.

Recently I found a James & Martha Jane McDurmitt, with the birth & death years as shown above, buried in Ruffner Cem, Rayne Twp, Indiana county, Pennsylvania; The entry for this cemetery shows Martha Jane's maiden name as Ruffner.

Further research shows there was a Martha Jane Ruffner born about the same time as M J Cunningham who did marry a James McDermott.

Does anyone have an obit for James McDermott/McDurmitt (dod 18Feb1903) or Martha Jane McDermott/McDurmitt - sorry I do not have a full date, just the year 1947. I have found a widowed Jane McDermott in the 1920-1930 census of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. My assumption is she died in either Westmoreland or Indiana county Pennsylvania. I feel an obit for either James or Martha Jane would possibly give Martha's maiden name & help answer my questions.
