Dear Jeff,

First of all, I am probably of no help to you, but am at a gridlock in researching the family name.

Am a descendant of John H. Thompson, b. March 10, 1838, son of a John Thompson (according to his death certificate, filed in 1910 near Seattle WA). Various military and other records show him born in "Indianna Town, PA." I am betting on Indiana, instead of Indian Town Gap, PA simply because it is closer to where his wife, my gg grandmother was from, in Clearfield Co., PA.

He was quite a cad, (went to Oil City, made and lost a fortune, abandoned gg-grandma and her two children, was a bigamist, fought in the civil war, lied about his pension, went out to the Washington Territories, etc.) so this "Drover John" guy that is popping up in the emails is a quite tantalizing possibility for an ancestor. :-)

So I guess I am asking, any insights or revelations here? Does he tie in anywhere that you know? Do you know if Indiana was called Indiana Town at one time?

I appreciate all help.
