I am trying to locate the parents of John and George Everhart who are listed in Woodberry Twsp in the 1800 and 1810 census. George moves on to Stark County Ohio by 1820 and died there in 1843. It appears by the ages reported in the cenus they were brothers. I have seen in genealogical records that George's father was John but can not locate him in any census of Huntingdon County. This name also gets spelled Eberhart and Eberhard.

Thomas N Barton Clark

I'm a novice who's been almost exclusively following Ancestry's "hints". I discovered that my maternal grandmother's paternal line, Clark, took me straight back to Abraham, who signed the constitution, and his great grandfather, who was apparently with Miles Standish. Before I broke this news to my family, though, I wanted to check the connections. I have gotten bogged down between Thomas N. Barton Clark (b 1865; Census has him in Baree, Huntington in 1870) and his supposed father, James Jackson Clark (b 1785). I am clear on Thomas N B, but James Jackson seems to have too many kids--possibly a different James J. Clark. I thought about hiring someone just to make this connection, but a professional starts at $1900! Can anyone out there check my work (Eggleston Family Tree) and verify (or deny) that Abraham Clark (b 1785) is indeed the grandfather of Thomas N B?

Don Eggleston (unkledon@aol.com)

An old post, but hopefully this message will still get through....

If this is the Patrick Kelly/Kilkelly who married Anna Nightwine and the date of birth that I saw on a family tree is correct, then I have some information for you on his parents (and grandparents).

Genealogist Phillip Crossle did a Killikelly/Kilkelly family tree chart back in the 1920s that includes a Patrick Kilkelly, born 8 Dec 1832. Crossle notes that Patrick "went to the USA". Patrick's parents were Bryan Kilkelly of Little Bridge(born 1795, died 13 June 1839) and Mary Holland (born 1798) of Fiddaun in Ardrahan Parish, Galway. ("vivens 1844") Patrick also had siblings:
John b. 1821 went to USA
Edmond b 1826
Bernard b. 1836 went to US d. 21 Mar 1912 in Rosalie Washington
Bridget b 1824
Margaret b 1825
Anne b. 1829
Julia b 1830 went to US

Byan Kilkelly's parents were Edmond Kilkelly of Little Bridge (Lissaondoon) parish Kilconierin (b. 1761) and Bridget Quin (born 1760, died 16 Jan 1820 )

If this fits with your tree there is more, and I'd be happy to forward the tree chart if you are interested.

J Murphy

I am interested in his marriage and children in Huntingdon County. He married lastly to Elizabeth Hull in 1831 in Stark County. Some of his older children were born 1790-1820 or so. I just combed my Jones family archives for any information on Lydia Ann (or Annie) (Goshorn) Arnold and came up empty-handed.

However, I will add her to my "persons of great interest" list and immediately start looking specifically for information about her as I continue my research.

In late April, I expect to revisit the Huntingdon County and Harrisburg areas. At that time I will reconsult previous sources and libraries for additional information on her.

I will post any new information here.

Best of luck in your research.

Dave Jones

A cemetery tombstone exists for an Isac Breneman in the Roth/Rhodes cemetery in Rockingham Co., VA. Age at death was approximately 62 years of age. Isaac would seem to be the son of Melchior and Anna Good Brenemen. However, some sources indicate that Isaac died in Huntington Co., PA ca. 1800. Is it possible that this is incorrect and he actually died in Rockingham Co and is buried in a cemetery with his sister Elizabeth Brenemen Rhodes and in the same area of the county as his brother Abraham. Also his brother David would have married Frances Rhodes the sister of Elizabeth Breneman Rhodes' husband Henry?
see link: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~varockin/HRHS/cem/rhodes.h...
Have you keyed these names into your tree with whatever information you know about them, such as birth or death dates? When I look at your tree, everyone but "Elder" is indicated as private, meaning they are probably still living. If you put in what you know, hopefully ancestry will kick out some hints for you to search and verify. If you are just beginning in your searches, be sure to verify information before attaching... often similar names may look tempting, but will send you up the wrong tree. If you don't know exact dates of birth but think it was (as example) around 1910, if you put in something like "abt 1910" in the birth date field, you will get better search results from your tree as well.

Also... look around at other sites as well as ancestry. I found the marriage license for a Curtis L Peck and an Anna R Fisher in 1899 in East Waterford, Juniata Co, PA. If these are definitely your people, it lists their parents which will take you back another generation. This is found on familysearch.org. Here is the link for the license:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VF9D-2XG

If you click on the "view image" you will be able to see the actual document which will let you verify the transcription listed, and will give you additional information for these people. You may have to sign up on the site to be able to open the image, but it is a free site.

Hope this at least helps somewhat. If I can be of further help, feel free to respond here or email me at lindad612@hotmail.com.

Linda
She was born 24 Oct 1859 in Juniata county and died 13 April 1929 in the home of Hon and Mrs I. Newton Taylor who evidently lived next door to Alonzo and Sophia (Campbell) Jones. According to Annie Arnold's obit, she lived with the Jones off and on for 40 years - I believe they were childhood friends.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply! So glad to hear that we are both still at it after six years. Time really does seem to fly by faster every year.

Thank you for your good wishes. We are doing pretty well. My father Roy Jones passed away in 2008 one week short of his 91st birthday and I am now the senior member of our family. My genealogical research and biography of my Great Grandfather Alonzo Jones have bogged down due to a severe automobile accident that my wife and I were in nearly five years ago. But I am hopeful that I can get back on track this year.

The "Baby Book" was a miracle find and to have it home with family is a second miracle. Thank you once again for making all that possible.

I hope that you and your family are all happy and healthy. I send my very best wishes to everyone for a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year.

Dave Jones

Regarding the Withingtons. Capt. Peter Withington had two sons: Martin Withington and his much younger brother Peter Withington (the clockmaker and silversmith). Martin Withington had a son named Peter who was the sadler. So Peter the sadler was Martin's son and the father of John Wakefield Withington.

Peter the clockmaker's sons were Daniel and Martin.

I am a Long - the Long family has been in Huntingdon since at least the late 1700's. I live in Cumberland Co. (near Harrisburg) now but still have connections in Huntingdon Co. and visit often.

I think that you are probably correct about a photographer having a wardrobe available for clients. May I ask what your connection to Huntingdon is? I live in Huntingdon (though not originally from here) and learned that my great-grandmother WAS originally from this area. The photo link I sent you is marked unknown but I believe that it may be a Glasgow daughter who married a Shultz.
