Can anyone tell me who performed the marriage for J. Warren and Emma? Was is John T. Elbin? I have found a photo (link below)of them and am wondering if the man pictured is my cousin, John T. Elbin who was a Judge and Justice of the Peace.
Thank you, Jane, for your help with John Finnegan. I'm not at all sure why I posted that the way I did. Must've been a serious "senior moment". that information was helpful, though, and i appreciate it. I did that work several years ago for a friend, and I'll add the information to his database.
Bob Snyder

It is always helpful to include dates and place names when you make such an inquiry! And, since you did not mention Bungards in your query, I wondered why you chose to tag onto that thread. Perhaps you thought you were solely addressing the Bungard researcher, and do not know that messages posted to this Board go out to everyone subscribed to the Greene county RootsWeb list, too.

After a bit of searching, I found a widowed John Finnegan in the 1900 Census of Aleppo, Greene and on the same page there is the family of Isaac and Hester Bungard. John Finnegan was reported as age 60 born Aug 1839 in Ireland, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1860. His son Daniel is listed as age 23, born June 1876. Daniel's Mother's place of birth is listed as PA. Daniel has been married for less than a year to Floetta age 26 b. Nov 1873 who was born in PA as were her parents. John's daughter Sadie is 17 b. April 1883. Son James is 15 b. May 1885. Daughter Blanche C. is 13 b. April 1887.

From that information about John's location, place of birth, and age, it was possible to locate him in the 1880 Census, too, in Aleppo, Greene. He is listed as 44, and his wife, Eliza, as 31. Their children are: Mary 11, Owen 9, Ana 8, John 6, Daniel 4, Peter 4, Burnard 2, and Marthy and Margaret both six months, with the added notation of Dec., meaning they were twins born in Dec 1879.

A person named "RSchmidle" has posted to Ancestry.com a photo of the gravestone for John Finnegan 1837-1917 and Eliza Younkin 1847-1891. The gravestone indicates that John served in Co. A 18th PA Vol. Cavalry, likely in the Civil War.

Regards, Jane

The Albert B.Frye that you reference was my great grandfather. There is a reference in the 1920 census for Albert"Brice" Frye.It includes his son Edward with his wife Hazel and three daughters. The oldest daughter (Ila) was my mom. Albert was actually born in Iowa. There is a huge family tree for the Allum family out of Iowa. Ironically it ended with Albert Brice Frye. I hope this info is helpful. BTW Edward and Hazel had 8 children, and I'm from a family of 7...so the line continues.

Who were the parents of Isaac Stidger LOHR (1912-1987), the husband of Fairy Jane TURNER (1912-2007)? Let me suggest a possibility:

Isaac Stidger Lohr was the son of Isaac Stidger Lohr (1888-1913) and Iona WELLING (1889-1970), thus he is actually Isaac Stidger Lohr, Jr.

Iona Welling was the daughter of William Welling and Hannah WHIPKEY. She may have had three husbands? First was someone with the GRANDON surname. With this unknown Grandon, she had a son Clarence S. Grandon in 1909. Then she had a relationship (marriage?) with Isaac Stidger Lohr and had a second child, Isaac Stidger , Jr. in 1912. The senior Isaac Stidger Lohr died in 1913 and Iona married a William Cook (1881-1970).

I have found Iona Welling and William Cook in the 1920 and 1930 census along with Clarence S. and a second son with various names which may be Isaac Stidger, Jr. I could not find Iona Welling and her son Clarence S. Grandon in the 1910 census.

Willing to share information.

Bill Muller
muller1938@gmail.com
Sarah Ann Patterson was born Oct. 25, 1838. John Randolph was born April 16, 1837. Don't believe he fought in the Civil War. He went to Waynesburg College & taught for several years before joining Sarah & her husband in Mercer Co. IL. Don't know of any siblings who went to WV.
Sarah's husband was Silas Phillips, also of Greene Co. PA. Shortly after Silas & Sarah married, they moved to IL. Don't know if there were Phillips brothers-in-law. This info is from Our Kith & Kin by Lorena Burke. It was published in the mid-1950s.

Also would like
to learn if this John Randolph Patterson was in the Civil
War, and if he or any of his siblings moved to West Virginia
after the Civil War. Who was Sarah's husband and did she
have Phillips' brother-in-laws?

Samuel Mack Lowery/Lowry (1849--??) was the son of James Lowery and Elizabeth Gunn. He married Emma Turner in 1870. Samuel and Emma apparently had two chilren: George (1872--) and Willis/Wilbur (1882). I can track Samuel from the 1850 census until 1910 (usually in Marshall Co., WV, but occasionaly in Greene Co., PA) and then …....

Emma Turne can be found in the census from 1870 thru 1920 (usually in Marsahll Co., WV, but sometimes in Greene Co., PA). But then? …....

QUESTIONS: When did Samuel Mack Lowery die? Where is he buried?

Where is Emma Turner die? Where is she buried?

For what it is worth, Emma Turner is the sister of Norman Turner. Norman Turner is the husband of Jennie Lowery, the sister of Samuel Mack Lowery.

Anything else would be appreciated. And if anyone who reads this knows that your directly related to James L Taylor Jr of PA, with a sister named Sue, and with James and Sue's Parents being Jim and DeEtta, please get ahold of me...I really would like to know more about my fathers James L Taylor Jr's Family...
Jami DeEtta (Taylor) Kempel...thats me.

I am researching the Braddocks of SW Penn. Visited the
Balch Library in Leesburg, VA. Saw a book you published.
I am interested in buying a copy. Can you give me the
price and is it still available? Thank you.

Pat Doerstler
