Leslie W. Haines, 77, of 173 Willow Road, Waynesburg, died at noon Tuesday,
January 7, 1992, in Greene County Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart
attack.
He was born April 23, 1914, in Whiteley Township, a son of Noah L. and
Ocie I. John Haines.
Mr. Haines lived most of his life in Greene County.
He was a member of Kirby United Methodist Church and served the church
as an adult Sunday school teacher, member of the board of trustees and
chairman of the administrative board.
He also was president of the board of ACTS of Greene County and a member
of the Waynesburg Sportsman's Club.
Mr. Haines was a 1933 graduate of Mt. Morris High School. He graduated
from Waynesburg College in 1940. For several years, he studied music under
Zola Hennen of Waynesburg College.
Mr. Haines worked for 40 years in the chemical industry. He was last employed
by Union Carbide Co., Silicon Division, and retired in 1980 as a chemical
operator for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Lemley Haines, whom he married June 25,
1938; a daughter, Mrs. Gary “Barbara” Cowell of Marietta, Ohio; a son,
James L. Haines of Waynesburg; a granddaughter, Lori Dickinson; a grandson,
Michael Cowell; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son who died in infancy and a granddaughter, Paula Powell.

Noah L. Haines, 86, of Waynesburg, RD 3, near Kirby, died at 6 PM Friday, Aug. 7, 1970, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been seriously ill for the past four weeks.
He was born July 28, 1884, in Perry Township, near Mt. Morris, a son of Lewis and Jane Headlee Haines.
Mr. Haines spent nearly all of his life in Whiteley Township, where he was a well-known farmer and stock raiser.
He was a member of the Kirby United Methodist Church. His wife, Ocie John Haines, died July 4, 1960.
Surviving are one son, Leslie W. Haines, of Waynesburg, RD 3; one grandson, James Haines, of Waynesburg, RD 3; one granddaughter, Mrs. Gary “Barbara” Cowell, of Marietta, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Paula, Lori, and Michael Cowell; two brothers; Ira D. Haines, of Mt. Morris Star Route, Waynesburg; and Floyd G. Haines, of Camp Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Haines, of Waynesburg, RD 3, near Kirby” who died Friday, Aug. 7, 1970, will be received after 7 PM Saturday in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1 PM Monday, Aug. 10, in charge of Rev. Floyd Kelley. Buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.

Ruben Harold Haines, 54, well known Carmichaels businessman, died at 2 a.m.
Saturday, March 2, 1951, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital after a
10-week illness.
Mr. Haines was born Nov. 16, 1896 in Monongahela Township. He was a son of
the late Marion and Alice Hart Haines. He spent most of his life in
Carmichaels where for a number of years he operated an automotive garage and
in recent years operated a feed store. He was a veteran of World War I and
a member of Cumberland Post No. 400 American Legion at Carmichaels; the
Carmichaels Chamber of Commerce; Greene County Chapter Izzaak Walton League;
the Carmichaels Sportsmen’s Club; and the Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife Jane Zimmerman Haines, whom he married Jan. 30, 1937.

Vera S. Haines, 63, of Munsey Street, Morgantown, W. Va., formerly of Waynesburg,
died at 8:10 AM Monday, March 4, 1991, in Monongalia General Hospital,
Morgantown, following a lengthy illness.
She was born February 8, 1928, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Roy
Shultz and Leona Kiger Shultz, who survives.
Most of her life was spent in Waynesburg, but she lived in Morgantown for
the past 27 years. She was affiliated with the Methodist faith and was
a former member of the Washington Street Methodist Church in Waynesburg.
She was an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society in Morgantown
and Greene County, and was also a volunteer for the the American Heart
Association of Greene County. She was a former member of the Social Service
League of Greene County.
Mrs. Haines was an accountant for West Virginia University, retiring in
1989.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, L. Victor Haines,
whom she married December 26, 1946; two sons, Dick Haines of Cleveland,
Ga., and Brad Haines of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, John R. Shultz of
Waynesburg; and two grandsons.

William Lindsey HAINES, 71, died Thursday, June 16, 1949, at 12:15 a.m. at
his home near Kirby, after a lingering illness.
He was born May 2, 1878, in Perry Township, a son of the late William and
Elizabeth Taylor Haines. He was a blacksmith and was well known in the
community. He was a member of the Kirby Methodist Church.
His first wife, Bertha Hickman Haines, died 18 years ago. His second wife,
Ora Lee Cook Haines survives.
Also surviving are two children by his first marriage, Edith Haines, and
Ralph Haines, both of Kirby; two grandsons, and five sisters, Mrs. Ida
Ordnoff, of New Freeport; Mrs. Alice Fordyce, of New Salem; Mrs. Mary
Lemley, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Eva Strosnider, of Poland; and Mrs. Lona Brown,
of Amity.

Haines. Funeral services for William Lindsey Haines, of near Kirby, who
died Thursday, June 16, 1949, will be held Sunday at 1PM at the
Kirby Methodist Church. Burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
