But other children are still living:my dad Eddie, Margaret, Donna, and Marlin. I am pretty sure that Aunt Madaline was at my 1st wedding in Ohio, 1979. I can not recall the name Benson, but I will ask my dad about that. Any information would be welcomed and I'd love to help fill in any gaps; if I can. Kim (Betts)Spencer

Hi, I am the great great great granddaughter of William and Elizabeth Hart. William's birth year is 1801. They were from Scotland and I can only find two children's names both born in Scotland, Wilmina (Williamina) Hart and Margaret Y.C.Hart.
Margaret was born in 1838 and Wilmina was born in 1842 in Glasgow. They started for America with 4 of their 7 children. They were shipwrecked and went back to Scotland. They tried again and this time made it. Another 7 children were born to them in this country. Wilmina married Willaim Armstrong Wilson in 1865 in Karns City PA. One of her children was Jennie E. Wilson who married James A. Adams. One of their children was
Helen Wilmina Margaret Adams who was my grandmother.
If anyone can help me find information on William and Elizabeth Hart and their family, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Jan

Mathias and possible son lived in Lancaster County Pennsylvania before settling outside of Ladiesburg, Maryland. The boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania at that time was still shifting. Mathias aquired 3 parcels of property over time, combined they totalled about 100 acres. I'm not sure where Mathias Sr. or Jr. were buried but Peter Mort I was buried at the church cemetery (Haugh)that stands on part of what was Mathias property. FYI, On the record deeds Mort is spelled "Martz".

Re: Need Info on Melius Family

George Clinton Melius is my Great Great Grand Father. Lewis Edward Melius his son was my Great Grand Father. His Son George Melius was my Grandfather and his son Daniel R. Melius was my father.

With that stated I found some very interesting stuff on here that nobody else has posted. For instance George Clinton Melius was a 2 year Civil War vet that would have seen heavy action in the regiment he was in. Extensive documentation on here to prove it beyond any shadow of a doubt. This same documentation gives an exact date of his death 6-2-1911 and shows that his wife mary was still alive on 6-151911. So they both made it out of the decade that everyone thinks they died in. Also on the Civil War Pension file that Mary A. filed this was her second claim. The first claim is shown as 1890 July something and reason given is Invalid. So this tells me that while George Clinton Melius lived to 1911 75 years old, he was an invalid for his last 21 years or from the time he was 54. Below is where I got all this info. Please look at the orginal documents as ancestry.com has him born 1776 and living to be 175 years old (typo on their part)

Here's last census they were in 1910:

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&...

Here's first proof that he was in Civil war but it gets better in further links:

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&...

Here's the Civil War Pension document that Mary A.
I have discovered the following:

BARNHART, Alfred* b-?; d-18 Aug. 1927

This is in the Fulton County information site of:
http://www.fultonhistory.org/deceasedincemeteries.php?page=1...

There is no cemetery listed so I would like to find out the source. I am researching the person of Alfred B. Barnhart, who lived in Nebraska in the late 1890's and after the death of his wife, Priscilla Hemphill Barnhart, he moved back to Pennsylvania leaving descendants in Nebraska wondering what happened to him.

Any information about the origin of the information would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
NebraskaBetty

Hi.....hope you're still following this board. There is a grave stone (on find-a-grave) in the Knobsvile Methodist Cemetery with the following names: Joseph Myers, his wife Catherine Null Myers, son George Myers. It is listed as belonging to Joseph Myers and his wife Catherine "Kate" Alexander Myers. If this is correct, where does the "Null" fit in; and, did they have a son George?
Thanks,
Carol

Thank you to all you genies out there who assisted me in "proving" the Mort ancestry for DAR membership. We used and were approved through Elizabeth's father John Mort. I still think there might be a link through her husband, Mathias' father, Peter. But nothing so far. (Note: Be careful when using the census index, John H. Mort is listed as John W; James S. Mort is transcribed as James L. Mort.)

Great find, LeeIrons! My gr-gr-grandparents also received mail at the Speersville P.O. They lived southeast of Wells Tannery at the junction of present day Rt. 915 (North Valley Rd.) and Mountain Road (State Rd. 4006). That's a distance of maybe 7 or 8 miles from the area where your ancestor lived, but probably the closest P.O. at that time. From the information you provided about the postal route, it's pretty evident that Speersville was in Wells Twp., Fulton County, not Brush Creek Twp. as I originally thought. Thank you for posting your findings.
