Dear Shark:

If, on the PA site, you go to the "Common Abbreviations - Interpreting Your Civil War Record Card" section, you will find all the information necessary to decode the card.

Your "REMARKS" code (S.C.of D.) means "Surgeon's Certificate of Disabillity."

I love this site. My wife and I knew that both of her great grandfathers, from Adams Co., served during the Civil War. One, in a Pennsylvania Inf. Reg. and the other in the Regular US Army Inf. I found her g-grandfather Kump's card and we discovered that he was 5'10" tall and had brown eyes and hair. Now we have a discription to go along with his wedding portrait.
