Death has again removed one of the Erie’s oldest and most highly esteemed residents in the passing of Mrs. Barbara Haft, widow of the late Sebastian Haft, at the family residence, 317 East 12th street, Monday afternoon. She was 80 years, 1 month and 17 days old. She was born in Germany but came to Erie with her parents at the age of six years, and has always resided here.
She has been a lifelong member of St. Mary’s church and was a member of the Communion class in her twelfth ??? ??? 1866, was united in marriage at the same church to Sebastian Haft, who preceded her in death nearly 39 years ago. Of the immediate family those surviving her death are Mis Anna Haft, Mrs. Hubert Sontag, Edward, Martin and Louis Haft. She also leaves 9 grandchildren.
Deceased was a member of Branch 11, L.C.B.A and of the Rosary society.
The funeral will be held from the late residence, 817 East Twelfth street, Friday morning at 8:30. Services at St. Mary’s church at 9 o’clock. She will be laid to rest in the family lot in Trinity cemetery.
