When I was just researching the land owner's index for 1909 In Del Co, I came across many holdings in the names of the Leiper family, which I'm sure go back further.
There is a Leiper House open to the public around Rose Valley Road in Wallingford, PA [Nether Providence township], near where I grew up. Circa 1969 I got to explore the exterior of the property before it became a historical site. Lots of interesting out-buildings, but I still haven't been inside the main house.
I believe there also exists a large extensive history of Delaware County, PA, but am not remembering the author this minute.
