Hi, Don,
thanks for getting that information for me. I think that perhaps this is not the correct Joseph Horn even tho' his wife has the same first name, and I could still be wrong...John Horn seems to come out of nowhere. It seems to me that if there were any children they would have been mentioned in the records. Since finding birth information leaves one pretty much at the mercy of church records at that time, it remains a mystery that will require further investigation. Yes I have about as much information on John Horn as seems to be available. I had sent for his military record several years ago and it was from it that I was able to get the court records concerning monies due to the two children which it seems the government had ceased to pay after Harriet (John's widow) re-married: an event it seems, for which her daughter (my Great Grandmother)never forgave her. Harriet, it seems, married a 'southerner' and that was unforgiveable to her daughter. I have been in and out of contact with a cousin of my mother, who is descended from John Horn's son, William. She has spent a lot of time trying to find out more about John while I prefer to find his parents.
Thanks again for your help.
Regards,
susan
