Looking for BUCKs, starting with Johannes BUCK (BUCH) who came from Germany in 1747 to Dauphin County, PA. Some later went to Blair County (Altoona area) and Huntingdon County (Warriors Mark area). LONGENECKER family is a connecting family.

Hi Rhonda,
I saw your posting on the Longnecker Family. I'm a descendent of Christopher Shanck from Dauphin Co., Pa. He was born abt. 1780 and I'm trying to find his parents. He married a woman named Catherine. Peter had the following siblings; Elizabeth, who married John Ryder, Catherine, who married Adam Ryder, Margaret, who married Henry Hoffman, Fanny, who married John Miller, John, who married a Miss Bishop and Henry who Married Susan Baker.
Do you have any connection to this family?
Thanks for your time.
Melinda

Melinda,
I was wondering about the Shank and Longenecker connection. Of interest is that the Peter Shank son of Christopher moved to Ohio and his son John moved to Arcanum in Darke County. Do you have any information on a later generation Peter Shank who lived in Bradford, Ohio also in Darke County. He was probably born around 1890. He had family around Phillipsburg, Ohio in Montgomery County. I can remember he and my mother (a Longenecker) talking that they were related back to Dauphin County PA. The family conection being Samuel Longenecker marrying Anna Shank born November 19, 1790 daughter of Michael Shank on October 2, 1810.

Hi Dennis,
Christopher Shanck/Shank was my GGG Grandfather b. abt. 1780 in Lancaster, Pa. He Married Barbara Keener, daughter of John and Mary Keener from Dauphin Coo., Pa. They moved north of Dayton, Ohio and then to Darke Co., Ohio in 1834. They did have a son, John C. Shanck, who was a farmer in Phillipsburgh, Ohio. John Shanck married Frances Hershey and they had a son, Peter born abt. 1880.
John C. Shanck had a sister, Elizabeth who married a Daniel Schaurer in 1864. Daniel and Elizabeth Schaurer had a son Henry who married Elizabeth Baker. Henry and Elizabeth Baker Schaurer had a son Josiah, who married an Edna Longnecker. Their children are as follows; Dorothy, Catherine, Lydia, Claude and Joseph.
I've been trying to trace Christopher Shanck's parents....could Anna have been Christopher's sister?
Any of the above info. ring a bell?
Please let me know if we have a connection....there may be another Lonnecker connection that I haven't found. I remember my Father talking about the Longneckers and he was born in Arcanum Ohio.
Hope to hear from you,
Melinda

Hi Rhonda,
I believe I've emailed you in the past. I have a question on your John Shanck, b. abt.1779 from Lancaster,Pa. Do you know who his siblings were or his parents?
I'm looking for any connection for my Christopher Shanck, b. Jan. 20,1782 d. Nov. 3, 1825. Christopher was born in Lancaster County and the spelling of Shanck was wonderful to see.
Thanks Rhonda,
Melinda

My great great grandfather was George Harry Buck, born in Pennsylvania in 1832. His father was Peter Buch, born in Pennsylvania in 1801. I have not been able to link up him with the three Buchs that immigrated to Philadelphia from Germany, Hans Georg Buch in 1728, Georg Michael Buch in 1738 and Johannes Buch in 1747.

Do you know anything further about the three?
