Dauphin Co. Probate Administration Question

Posted: 6 May 2015 3:26AM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Johnson, Johnston, McCord
On a research trip to Dauphin County some years ago I copied many documents. One of those was in a book at the courthouse called Dauphin County O.C. Book A 1785-1796.

My 3rd great grandfather James Johnson/Johnston was in East Hanover township before going to Warren County Ohio circa 1799-1800. His wife was Mary McCord Johnson. They were active in the Old Hanover church but associated families were also in Paxton and Derry. I've never been
able to prove the parents of either James or Mary.

I believe there is a chance the James Johnson listed as the deceased (see link below) could be the father of my James Johnson who I believe may have had a brother Alexander and who had sons himself named James, William, Alexander and John. On the document linked below, his
brothers have the same given names.

My question is what additional information might be available to me that might shed more light on this family? Was there a Will? Are the other administration papers that could provide addition hints? I assume there might be receipts signed by each showing they got their share. And how might I go about obtaining those copies? I live in the midwest so a return trip is unlikely in the foreseeable future.

This link below is to a copy of the document referred to above.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
