Hi Terry,

I just found your message from 1999 posted on Ancestry.com's website. My surname isn't Benn legally, it is the surname of my biological father. I was born in Ontario, Canada in 1972 and placed for adoption shortly after.

Ancestry's records have improved greatly over the past few years and I've managed to learn a few details from my bio mother. Enough to cobble together a starting point on my paternal family tree (Benn), which so far I have traced back to Upper Canada in the late 1700s.

From the bits I've read, there were Benns on both sides of the border before and after the revolutionary war in 1776, which means it would be easy to connect the dots between Benn families in both PA and NY with Canadian Benns.

I am also under the understanding that I have a number of half siblings. Two half brothers and four half sisters as far as I'm aware and and those are the people I'm hoping to connect with. I would love to be able to exchange information and stories.

I hope the last 15 years have been good to you and your family. Here's hoping this message finds you. Even if we aren't related, I can hopefully point you in the right direction in your quest.

Regards, Lisa H.
