I need help on locating a death notice for Ellen Downey. She was in the 1880 census in Meadeville,Crawford County Pa. I think she died between 1880 and 1900. Her son Edward worked for the railroad and moved to Ohio between these times. Ellen would have been about 80 years old in 1880. She was born in Ireland about 1801. Her maiden name was Ryan and her husbands name was Michael Downey

The Downy/Downey family appear in the records of St. Brigid's Church, Meadville. Ellen appears in the burial records - died May 1, 1890, of pneumonia, in her 87th year. The entry notes that she was buried at St. Agatha's Cemetery, no reason given. There are a number of baptisms for the children of Edward Downey and Ellen Collins, if you are interested.

St. Brigid's is my parish, and I have worked with the early records =
fairly extensively while doing a parish history. So, I can give you =
abstracts of the Downey entries. It originated as a predominately Irish =
parish in 1862.

Edward Downey and Ellen Collins were married at St. Brigid's, Meadville, =
PA, on 29 July 1871. Witnesses were Daniel Pendy and Mary McGraw.
