Thomas S. CASSON, a former resident of Maple Grove, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry J. VOITH, Renovo, Pa., Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1914, of heart failure and complication of diseases. He was born in Burlington, Otsego Co., N.Y., June 15, 1838. At the age of 15 years he moved with his parents to Tuscarora, Steuben Co., N.Y.

Dec. 31, 1862, he was married to Miss Martha THOMAS of that place, who died Nov. 3, 1881. In 1870, he moved to Owosso, Michigan, where he resided until 1875. He then moved to Maple Grove township, where he purchased an 80 acre farm of wild land and went through the trials of hardships of pioneer life. In 1910, on account of old age, he sold his farm and went to Renovo to reside.

The following children survive: Mordecai CASSON, of Saginaw, Mich.; Clarence, of Lansing, Mich.; Hugh and Ernest, of Maple Grove, Mich.; Mrs. H.J. VOITH and Mrs. Otis CHILDS of Renovo, Pa.; Mrs. Ed STEELE, of Brockport, N.Y....Also the following brothers and sisters: Mordecai CASSON, of Addison, N.Y.; William of Linleytown, N.Y.; John of Randolph, N.Y.; Mrs. Mary MANLEY, of Randolph, N.Y.; Mrs. Sarah BEARDSLEY, of Rochester, N.Y.; and Mrs. Elizabeth KERNAHAN, of Delta, Colo.

The funeral was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.J. Voith, of Renovo, Pa.; Friday, Nov. 13. Rev. Mr. Gornell, of the M.E. church, of which he was a life long member, officiated. The interment was in the Renovo cemetery.

The following relatives from a distance attended the funeral: Mordecai Casson of Saginaw; Hugh and Ernest Casson of Maple Grove; Mrs. Ed Steele of Brockport, N.Y.; Mrs. Mary Manley and John Casson of Randolph, N.Y.
