Hello,

I am searching for info on my great-great grandparents but I only have one date. Will someone please look for a death record/obit even a Will might help, I have been stuck at this brickwall for years. I am trying to break it down for Mariah (no maiden name) Steele b. May 1830 in England d. 15 Feb 1901 in Rosebud, Clearfield Co., she is buried in Snyder Cemetery. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

My dad was born around that time in clearfield, PA. The county is currently doing some genealogy research of its own so you may want to look at the site.

Also I think it might be helpful if your mom was a member of a church. There seem to be a lot that are tied to immigrant communities of that time and they are still around.

The person to contact at Immaculate Conception Church would be Nancy Baughman. Also, there is a St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Osceola Mills as well. Nancy will have the contact information for that cemetery as well. Good luck!

Surviving are his wife, five children, Mrs. Joseph Shutack and Mrs. Lloyd Vasbinder of Beaver Falls, Harry of Irvona and Mitchell and Gene at home, and nine grandchildren. CAREY EDWARD KUHN

Mr. Kuhn, 73, of Utahville, Coalport RD, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 1986, in his home, following an extended illness.

Mr. Kuhn retired as a construction worker.

He was born March 9, 1913, in Flinton, the son of Harry and Annie (Simmers) Kuhn, and Nov. 27, 1946, in Blandburg, married Catherine Klanish.

Surviving are his wife, six children: Richard Klanish of State College, Shirley Matthew and James of Irvona, Sandra McCormack of Bakersfield, Calif.; Patricia Reed of Beccaria and Paul, at home, and nine grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters: Madeline Simmers of Coalport and Linda Lender of Camp Hill.

Mr. Kuhn was an Army veteran of World War II, having received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three bronze stars and a bronze arrowhead.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Donald J. Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport.

KUHN -- Services for Carey Edward Kuhn of Utahville, Coalport RD, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Donald J. Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, by the Rev. Benjamin T. Grove. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home. Could your Nicholas Shank have been married twice? I have a Nicholas Shank b: abt 1824, Germany wife Elizabeth Unknown b: abt 1828, Germany. In the 1880 census, Hunt. Co. shows Elizabeth as divorced with two children Samuel & Emma.
Nicholas & Elizabeth Shank were my husbands GG grandparents.

I have one of her with two of her brothers(at least I was told they are her brothers)-they were not, it seems, real good at marking the back of pictures back then! I am also a descendent of the Witherite's.My gggrandmother was Cornelia Witherite.If my records are correct she too was the daughter of Michael and Barbara Witherite. Cornelia married George McCully. I am told that they lived in Chest Township.Would love to hear from you with any other info.on Witherite's.

Thank you for you quick replay, Yes I have, It states that her parents names where John and Jeanette (Wilson) Arthur but...
From this point forward I can find no connect to Clayton B Arthur, except for some confusing data for two Johns in Civil War records showing them musted in 1865 with the 198th Pennsylvania Volenteers, Company B. No record of my Grandfather being born? Someone who has been helping me prevoiusly said that maybe he was adopted and whats weird is that it may have been by another family with the same name. None of the documents I have of Clayton B. Arthur show his parents name.

Catholic Burials in Osceola

My great-grandparents obituaries state "burial at Osceola" and "burial at catholic cemetery in Osceola"
They both lived in Phillipsburg and I am assuming it is Osceola Mills. Can anyone tell me which catholic cemeteries are located in Osceola Mills?
I'd like to find their final resting place.

Have you ever heard anything about the Robins family? According to a small article in History of Clearfield County, George W. Robbins moved to Pike Twp., Clearfield C. in 1840 where he married Margaret Bloom. He must have died about 1882. I looked up McClure cemetery on Findagrave and they had no Robins listed.

When I check the 1900 census of Jordan Twp., Clearfield County, PA, I find a James W. Bloom, born circa July 1894. He is the son of a Miles S. and Isabella Bloom. They are listed in dwelling 50/51 with 6 other children besides James.

This semi-confirms my suspicions that somehow these Bloom families got scrambled.

Hi Kathy. Correction--Faunce is at the confluence of Boggs, Woodward, and Knox townships. Only about a dozen houses there but the kids went to three different school districts. The Clearfield Creek separated Knox from the other two and a tiny run separated Boggs and Woodward.

I believe Wade's name was James Wade Bloom, b:July 14, 1894, d:November 13, 1941 buried Fruit Hill Cemetery, Clearfield Co., Pa. Married Jennie Bloom b:December 24, 1894 d:January 14, 1990; d/o Alfred L. Bloom & Louisa Smith. (She was also married to Ed Eirkson). Her tombstone reads "Jennie Bloom Erikson"

Friend Rosenkrans was a brother of my grandmother, Ella Rosenkrans who married Edward Conrad Lewis. Another sister, Clara Rosenkrans married Thomas Lewis brother of Edward Lewis.

I have quite a bit of info on this family and would be happy to share info with you and I am also very interested in the Penfield area. My father, Gordon Lewis was born in Penfield.
