My great-grandmother was Lilly May Thompson, sister to your grandfather. When Stacy Thompson divorced his wife, Elizabeth, the boys stayed with the dad and were all successful and apparently well off. Lilly went with the mom, who remarried, and remained quite poor throughout her life.
Have you read “The Descendants of Stacy Webb Thompson” by Claudia Breland? Very through research and very fascinating. Stacy’s son, Byron’s house is still standing in Grand Rapids up on Historic Hill. Stacy must have had some money because his descendants keep naming their children after him, including my grandfather, Stacy Johnston, and Stacy is my middle name.
