VIRGINIA M. BORTZER, 83, of 149 Dale Ave., Franklin, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2002 in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born January 1, 1919, in Clarion County, she was the daughter of Jacob "Logan" Long Sr. and Kathryn Ellen Shreffler Long Hayes. Mrs. Bortzer was a homemaker and had been a waitress in various restaurants in Indiana. She was a member of the Salvation Army. Mrs. Bortzer was married to Harry Bortzer, who died February 1, 1997. Surviving are two children, Daniel E. Long of Franklin and Mrs. James (Doris) White of Franklin; five grandchildren, David G. White of Conneautville, William White of North East and Dale White, Brian White and Terry White, all of Franklin; and three great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers, Logan Long of Franklin and Donald O. Long of Plumer. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bortzer was preceded in death by her stepmother, Anna Marie Ferringer and a sister, Carrie Saeli. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Lt. David Rhodes of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in Peters Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
