I would be interested in any additional information about Joseph VASEY (WASEY), captain of the America, which brought settlers to Chester in 1683. Did he stay and settle? I have traced my roots back to Samuel VASEY, born ca 1808-1811 in PA. The only Vaseys in earlier census are John and Joseph, but I am unable to determine which, if either, might have been his father.

Did anyone every reply to this? I am tracing a Joseph Wasey who was a Quaker sailor from Southwark (London) who spent some years a slave in Morocco (1686-1690). Is this the same Wasey? If so, you can find some records of his marriage (1669), children and burial (1705) as well as some accounts by him of his slavery.
