I have a old newspaper artical about my great grandfather Lucien E. Davis of Strafford Pa (Chester County). It talks just a little about his relatives. Saying that his family has been known in this area since 1680, when they settled under a land grant from William Penn. His grandfather, William E. Davis was born in 1826 and served in the 97th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company K. He inlisted in 1861.
His great-grandfather Samual Davis, was born in 1792, also in Strafford, PA.
The first school erected near Strafford was the Davis school in 1720. The name from the Davis family who purchased the land for 5 grams of pepper.
A member of the Davis family, Rev. Hugh Davis was the first rector of the Great Valley Baptist Church in 1711.

Anyone with information on any of these Davis' Please reply or email me at jimmygina@gmi.net

I just started with ancestry.com and was surprised to see that two others also share the same ancestors, namely Llewellyn Davis (b. 1670) who came to America in 1705.

I would like to share with distant relatives any and all information about the Davis family.

Surnames: Davis, John Davis, Knauer
In your Davis data have you come across Rebecca John Davis? She was born in 1821 in Chester county later married Joshua Knauer. She was living with her son Griffith Davis Knauer when she died. I have one historical reference stating she is a descendant of the Quaker Griffith John. I have well documented history of Griffith John and many of his descendants who married a Davis therefore having children names _______John Davis. I have not been able to find the names of Rebecca's parents.
Any clues or directions would be greatly appreciated. I already have a memorial and pictures of Rebecca J. & Joshua Knauers' headstone on findagrave.com
Thank you,
Kim
