Gary—I'm a descendant of Richard Gregory, and I read the same thing somewhere; I believe it was on the Gregory family message board. I'd also like to find this house.

The following Web site contains some clues: http://www.stormpages.com/endora60/Gregory.html. (The source for this information is not given, though it seems to be from about 1930.) This source claims the Richard Gregory homestead was made of stone and remained in the Gregory family until 1866, when it passed into the hands of Solomon Gery, an unmarried relative.

An 1876 map of Hereford Township including the names of property owners may be found at http://genealogy.lv/1876Berks/. (Click on Townships, then Hereford Township.) What is now know as Harlem was called Perryville in 1876. It is shown along the creek in School District No. 6. The map shows several Gregory homes, but no Mosers. There is, however, a property marked "S. Gery." If this is Solomon Gery, it could be the homestead we're looking for. I tried to drive out there but found it difficult to look for homesteads because someone was always tailgating me, and the roads were too narrow for me to pull over and let them pass. I did see a very old house made of LOGS near the Perryville/Harlem crossroads.

Your problem is that the Gregorys owned hundreds of acres of land, so the "adjacent" properties could have been in a rather large area.

FYI—
My Gregory line runs as follows:
1. Richard
2. John
3. David
4. Reuben
5. Nathan
6. Amanda Estella, who married my great-grandfather, James A. Heiney
