I am trying to find the birthplace of my palatine ancestor, Nicholas Barron. I know that he arrived as a 21 year old in Philadelphia from Rotterdam on the ship Neptune and signed with his mark right off the boat. He was listed as a Palatine.

At a seminar this weekend, I discovered that many Palatines had arrived in NY state in the early part of the century, and within the next decade, many migrated to Berks Co.

My ancestor landed in Philadelphia, married a Philadelphian, and shortly after supposedly moved to Berks Co. and eventually moving on to Somerset Co.

I would like to find more information about his time in Berks Co., hopefully to find some paperwork noting where in the germanic parts of Europe he may have lived prior to his boarding the ship.
