The following info comes from the “Gayles Tree” database in the Family Trees section at Ancestry.com.

Monroe DRUCKENMILLER, son of Michael, was born 13 May 1824 in Pennsylvania and died 3 Feb 1866 in Pennsylvania. His widow received a Civil War pension. He mustered out of the army 13 June 1863 on a Surgeons Certificate. He had a brother named Daniel.

On 25 Dec 1842, Monroe DRUCKENMILLER married Lydia SEMMEL.

Lydia SEMMEL was born 2 Jun 1818 in Pennsylvania and died 22 Nov 1899 of “apoplexy” (stroke) in Newhards, Washington Twp., Lehigh Co. Pennsylvania. She was buried 26 Nov 1899 in Friedens Church Cemetery, near Slatington, Lehigh Co.

On 7 Mar 1868 in Pennsylvania, Lydia SEMMEL married (2nd) Aaron OLEWINE, who was born 3 May 1818 in Pennsylvania. The marriage was reported in the 18 March 1868 edition of the Unabhaengiger Republikaner (Independent Republican) newspaper, Allentown, Lehigh Co. Aaron was a blacksmith in Newhards, Washington Township, Lehigh County, and died in or near Newhards 4 Feb 1904. He is buried in the Friedens Church Cemetery. Aaron had previously been married to Elizabeth OBERHOLTZER, who was born 22 Mar 1818 and died 19 Nov 1865 in Pennsylvania, and with whom he had 11 children.

The Civil War Pension Index at Ancestry.com contains a listing for Lydia OLEWINE, widow of Monroe DRUCKENMILLER, with a minor child named “Sarana.” The card lists the application and certificate file numbers for Monroe’s case. You can write to the National Archives for copies of what is contained in these files. There are several articles on how to do so in the Archives at Ancestry.com. You may find his parents this way. I’ve attached a .GIF file of the card image below; however, it is very poor quality. Monroe’s unit appears to be the 176th PA Infantry.

The Pennsylvania State Archives (www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us) keeps a Civil War Veterans' Card File, 1861-1866. A card for “M. DRUCKENMILLER” indicates that he was in Company D, 176th PDM. That image is also attached below. "PDM" stands for "Pennsylvania Drafted Militia." A brief history of the regiment and a photo of its battle flag is at www.macungie.org/regiment.html. Much of this regiment, including the company in which Monroe served, was raised in Lehigh County. A full roster may be found at http://home.ptd.net/~nikki/176regtlc.htm.

*****************
Monroe and Lydia were living in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, as of the 1850 and 1860 censuses. I’ve attached the pertinent pages below. Since Lydia is buried at Friedens Church, Washington Township, you might want to check for records of this family there after about 1847, when the church was built. Before that the family probably attended Union (Schlosser's) Church in Neffs, North Whitehall Township. It had two congregations, Lutheran and Reformed, both of which are still active.

There were Druckenmillers in Lehigh County censuses as early as 1820. The fact that one of Monroe and Lydia's children is listed as being "born" in Kutztown may mean simply that they returned to one of their home churches for baptism; the child may still have been born in Lehigh County.

There was a Michael DRUCKENMILLER living in Hereford Township, Berks County, in the 1820 and 1840 censuses. That may be the father of your Monroe. Hereford Township is adjacent to Lehigh County. The Semmel family has also been in Lehigh County for many generations.

Hope this helps you in your search.
