Go to the Berks County GenWeb home page at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/. Click on "Montgomery Project" in the lefthand column. That will take you to a transcription of a 1909 history of Berks County by Morton Montgomery. You can read about that book on this page. Then click on "Go to the indexes" and click on "Sailer, Samuel to Zook, Christian" under "The Biography Indexes." From there, click on the cell that says "Spotts, John J. -- Stauffer, Elmer K." The bio of Elmer E. Stauffer on this page is what you're looking for. He is a son of your William Stauffer, whose wife's father, Henry Gilbert, was in miller in Colebrookdale. If you look on the map where you saw your Stauffer, you'll also see a Gilbert nearby.
Elsewhere on the Berks County GenWeb site you'll find much more information on this family.
There's another Web site that archives photos of old mills, organized the state and county. It's at
http://www.millpictures.com/products/index.cfm?p=Pennsylvani.... I didn't see any named Stauffer, but the mill may have had several different names. There is one with Gilbert in its name, but not in Colebrookdale Twp.
I've had several millers in my family. I would be interested to know if the Colebrookdale mill is still extant.
