Surnames: McCardle, McCarl
Robert McCardle of Dublin twp. then Bedford county, age 24, enlisted in the Wayne Guards 5 May 1847 at Stone valley for the Mexican War. He was a wagoner. Mustered out with his company 21 July 1848. Later served in Union Army. By the time (1867) he moved to Mapleton Depot, Union twp., Huntingdon, he was known as Robert McCarl. He died there in 1887. Seeking family. No McCardle/McCarls in Dublin twp. cemetery Huntingdon. Is there a likely one on the Bedford/Fulton side? I note there was a McCardill family in Washington Cty., Maryland that moved north with a group of mostly Germans (Swope, Saylor) who ended in the Trough Creek Valley, Huntingdon.
