THIRD DEMISE IN FAMILY AT ALUM BANK IN NEW YEAR

Mrs. Ada M. Smith Follows Husband and Mother to Grave; Was in 56th Year

ALUM BANK, Feb. 10--The third death in the family of J.E. Blackburn since the first of the year occurred here last evening when, Mrs. Ada Mandilla Smith, daughter of Mr. Blackburn, passed away at the latter's residence.

Mrs. Smith's husband, Charles Henry Smith, expired here January 8 and her mother, Mrs. Matilda (Bowser) Blackburn, died last week.

The demise of Mrs. Smith occurred at 9 o'clock and followed a three-year sickness of a complication of ailments, including heart trouble and dropsy. Thursday evening her condition took a turn for the worse and she sank rapidly until the time of her death.

Mrs. Smith was in her 56th year, having been born March 4, 1878, at this place. She was twice married. Her first husband, Elliott Kratzer, died 29 years ago. One son born to the first union--Elliott C. Kratzer of this place--survives her, as do two sons born to the second union. They are Charles Jacob Smith of this place and John Ealy Smith of Pittsburgh.

She also leaves her father and a brother, J. Clifford Blackburn, and sister, Mrs. Harry Watkins, both of Alum Bank.

Obsequies will be conducted next Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the J.E. Blackburn home. Rev. Martin Kauffman, pastor of the local Evangelical Church, will be in charge. Interment will take place in the Pleasantville Cemetery.
