Classification: Query
Surnames: Henrich, Hendricks
My great-great grandfather, Louis J. Henrich was born May 19, 1869, in Shamokin, Northumberland County, PA, to Charles T. Henrich (1841-1916)and Rebecca Berger Henrich(1842-1916).
In 1880, Charles and his family lived in Beaver County, PA. By 1890, they lived in East Liverpool, Columbiana County, OH, which is where he died and is buried.
The only other info I have on Charles is: Charles T. Henrich served with Company I, 151st Regiment, Pennsylvania Civil War Volunteers at the Battle of Gettysburgh. He was enlisted October 16, 1862, through July 27, 1863. He was a Private. This information was found on the 1890 Special Schedule - Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Widows for East Liverpool, Ohio.
At some point between 1900 and 1910, Louis and the rest of the family changed their name to Hendricks.
I am looking for any information on Charles and Rebecca prior to 1869. I also would love to know why Louis and the rest of the family changed to (or back to) Hendricks.
I have been stuck on this for years. Thank you in advance to anyone who can point me in a new direction.
