Surnames: Berghandler, Franke, Biernath, Kerschner, Keilberg
Maybe, just maybe, Anna Marie BURGUNDER could be my grandfather's sister or step-sister. Bruno August BERGHANDLER was born 15 Mar 1878 in Dresden, Germany; came to US ca. 1882; grew up in Pittsburgh with his parents, Friedrich August BERGHANDLER & Bertha FRANKE, until his mother d. 1896. His father remarried, to a widow, Mrs. Louisa BIERNATH KERSCHNER, Some of Louisa's children from her 1st marriage may have taken the name BERGHANDLER. Bruno had an older brother Otto, and at least 3 younger sisters, known names: Martha b ca. 1881, Germany; Elizabeth, b. Probably in Pittsburgh ; and Mary b. 17 Jan 1888 in Allegheny City, PA. There were others, but whether they were from Louisa's 1st or 2nd marriage is unclear. At the time of Friedrich August's death on 5 Nov 1911, they were living at 1415 Spring Garden Ave., Pittsburgh. My sister Tracy & I need advice on research strategies, and are willing to exchange info. Barb Glassel
